Gewürztraminer
Lychee, rose, and ginger — the most aromatic white.
Gewürztraminer — the name means spiced Traminer — is one of the most distinctively aromatic white grapes. Pink-skinned berries yield deep golden wines with intense rose, lychee, and ginger notes plus low acid and often noticeable residual sugar. Alsace and Trentino-Alto Adige are the historic European homes; New World plantings include cool-climate sites in Oregon, Ontario, and New Zealand. The grape's perfumed character pairs naturally with strongly spiced cuisines that overwhelm subtler whites.
